Creativity: Cotton Candy or Problem Solving?

As a child of the 60s, decked-out in my bell-bottoms, peace-symbol shirt and dangling love-beads, I dreamed about being creatively me.  In my mind, creativity and freedom held hands and made a fist at the establishment—anyone over 40.  

Looking at 40 from the other side, I realize that I didn’t know what I didn’t know. Yes, there is a certain amount of “cotton candy” freedom in that magical word, yet in writing and in everyday living, CREATIVITY is much more.

Our Zoom class (beginning on September 3rd ) will boost creativity to enhance your writing and your life: 

  1. Creativity Attracts Curiosity – When Curiosity ramps up, Criticism’s voice fades: “What if…” speaks over the voice that asks, “What are they going to think of me if I write (or say or do) this?” Writing is all about thinking creative thoughts, and each session of this class will focus on a variety of ways to look at your writing and at your life.
  2. Creativity Enhances Exploration – Sometimes we get stuck in “I-know-it-all.”We’ve done things in the same tired way for so long, we’re bored, only we don’t know it.  How fun to visit a new place (or take this new class) because we truly have to pay attention in uncharted waters. Color your thinking with tips and techniques to speed up writing, empower your stories and draw inspiration from your experiences. We’ll explore a host of resources to do just that.
  3. Creativity Solves Problems – Not only is creativity a way for rebels, artists and hippies to express themselves, it’s also a vehicle to help us solve problems. Limitation is the name of the game in life and in writing. And of course, as survivors of 2020, we know this firsthand.

MY Promise: Rather than teach you, I promise to set the stage for you to think with curiosity, take you to new place, and challenge you to create solutions—and then write about them. As a group, we’ll use our hands (Don’t ask— it’s a surprise!) and our voices to call out the best in everyone.

This class will be a CREATIVE experience loaded with Flower Power!  Join us.
