Hello Earthly Woman,
Recently, a friend sent me a wonderful prayer that has become a part of my daily meditation ritual. The prayer honors the feminine nature of God, something  lacking in the traditional Christian culture.
It seems to me it is time to honor the feminine along with the masculine in every aspect of life. If we pray to our Father in heaven, would it not also make sense to pray to our Mother on earth?
The answer is in this Essenes prayer. For me, it’s the missing piece of the puzzle. See what you think:
And pray every day to your Heavenly Father and Earthly Mother, that your soul become as perfect as your Heavenly Father’s holy spirit is perfect, and that your body become as perfect as the body of your Earthly Mother is perfect. For if you understand, feel, and do the commandments, then all for which you pray to your Heavenly Father and your Earthly Mother will be given you. For the wisdom, the love, and the power of God are above all.
After this manner, therefore, pray to your Heavenly Father: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
And after this manner pray to your Earthly Mother: Our Mother which art upon earth, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, and thy will be done in us, as it is in thee. As thou sendest every day thy angels, send them to us also. Forgive us our sins, as we atone all our sins against thee. And lead us not into sickness, but deliver us from all evil, for thine is the earth, the body, and the health. Amen.
And they all prayed together with Jesus to the Heavenly Father and to the Earthly Mother.

I love the Our Father, and yet, equally exciting is the second part of this prayer to the Earthly Mother. It makes perfect sense to see both sides: heaven and earth. From taekwondo class, I was fascinated with the concept of Palgwe, or the balance of opposites: sweet and sour, left and right, light and dark, up and down, day and night.
Earth is our home, for heaven sake! We call our planet Mother Earth, Earth Mother and Mother Nature. The Greeks thought of the earth as the Goddess Gaia. Native people from several continents honored earth as feminine.  The word nature (natura from Latin) means birth, which is, of course, women’s work.
The Essenes are not well known, but you’re probably familiar with the Jewish sects of Pharisees and the Sadducees. The Essenes were a third group. They were a more private sect in Palestine, from the 2nd century BC to the 2nd century BCE. They were highly organized, valued equality between the sexes and many consider them to be the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
If you want to know more about the Essenes, there’s lots of good information online. There are also a couple of books you might enjoy: Anna, Grandmother of Jesus: A Message of Wisdom and Love by Claire Heartsong and  Jesus and the Essenes by Dolores Cannon.
Consider saying this prayer daily to:
- Remember to be good stewards of the earth, our home.
- Honor and bless our bodies. We were each given one body for the duration of our time here on earth, so in that sense the body is our specific home.
- Make health requests for our friends.
There’s so much going on in the world right now. My hope is that this special prayer will bring you comfort, joy and hope. And please share it with your friends!
May confidence and respect bless our Mother Earth,
Jan
